What is the most cost effective way to find front weights (suitcase or notch type) for my B7200? Dealer has them for $1/lb and this seems high priced. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

u can always go to a plate burning shop...they use precision cutting torches to cut out any design u want...u probably should go to dealer and buy the least expensive one to get a pattern, and then let them cut u some out in whatever thickness u need...the thicker the heavier...they can cut up to 8" plate with no problem...i pay .42 cents a pound for my steel when i need it for my machine shop...paint them black and u have good as dealer bought parts ....

There was a discussion about homemade front weights but I can't remember on which board. A guy made some from large square tubing that he filled with lead or concrete--can't remember which, but there'd be a big difference in weight of course. I also can't recall details of the mounts so I'm not much use.
When I had my gas torch I probably would have cut several brackets from plate to as good of pattern as I could made and weld them onto the square tubing. I'm not sure much precision is needed. My impression is that something like this would be cheapy alternative provided that home tools and scrap-yard material are used. If much new material and welding shop time is required than the cost and aggravation may become greater than the price of ready-mades from Kubota--at least that's the way many things seems to be priced.

Those were my fabricated front weights. The link is below. I, too, was put off by the price of factory weights, and have found my TC29 to be severely hampered without some weight in front. Probably meant to have a FEL. I picked up all of the steel and lead as scrap for free. Anyway, someday (I've been saying it for a year or so now), I want to build a grill guard and fill it with concrete or lead to add a little more weight. I also fabricated a drop on weight to use when my 3ph hoe is attached; it adds another 150 lbs or so.

Bill: I'm happy enough to have a good memory for these things. It's always better when somebody else toots your horn first. From the discussion about your CADPLAN hoe, it's obvious that you'd have no trouble with fabricating front weights. ....

You could also fill your front tires 1/2 full with an antifreeze water mixture. This will give you a balanced weight right on the tires. I had a problem with the tractor pushing the front around when making a sharp turn on a slight incline. Adding weight and new tires will be the ticket.

The cheapest way to add weight to the front is to pick up a load of dirt with your FEL. Dirt, gravel, rocks, etc. will cost you about $0.0000001 a pound instead of $1.00 a pound for suitcase weights.
If you don't have a FEL, get one. ....
